The NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) is an Australian Government funded programme that provides support to people living with disability, currently helping over 500,000 Australians access the services they need to live more independently.
Start by completing an NDIS Access Request Form, and you don't have to do this alone. A family member, trusted friend, health professional, or someone at your local NDIS office can help you through it. You'll also need evidence of your disability, typically prepared by a health professional who understands how your condition affects your everyday life.
An individualised document detailing the funding and supports you're eligible for, created with your support team and reviewed periodically in planning meetings.
The NDIS can feel like a lot to take in, especially at the start. We work alongside you, your family and your support coordinator to make sense of your plan and turn your funding into support that works for your life.
Generally you need to be under 65 when you apply, live in Australia as a citizen, permanent resident or Protected Special Category Visa holder, and have a permanent disability that substantially affects your everyday life. Younger children may be supported through the early childhood approach.
Complete an NDIS Access Request and provide evidence of your disability from a health professional. A family member, friend, health professional or your local NDIS office can help you with the forms.
The NDIS can fund Supported Independent Living (the support you receive at home), Specialist Disability Accommodation for eligible participants, respite and Medium Term Accommodation. Everyday rent and living costs are usually paid by the participant.
Look for a registered NDIS provider with experience in your support needs, clear communication and regular progress reviews. We're happy to talk through your options with no obligation.
